Farm Support Programs Event, Electra, October 13 – AgFax

The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service will present “Agricultural Support Programs and You” Oct. 13 at Electra.

The event will take place from 6-8 p.m. at the Electra Chamber of Commerce, 112 W. Cleveland Ave. A steak dinner will be served.

The event is free, but attendees must pre-register by October 10 by calling 940-716-8610.

“Farmers and ranchers, whether large or with just a few acres, are facing tough times,” said david grafAgriculture and Natural Resources Officer for AgriLife Extension, Wichita County.

This meeting aims to highlight some support programs available, explain those programs and cover eligibility requirements, he said.

“The USDA has several support programs that can help, but not everyone knows which programs may be right for them to operate,” Graf said. “Join us to make sure you don’t miss an opportunity to improve your bottom line.”

The topics and speakers of the support program are:

  • Conservation Programs: Site Assessments, Improving Wildlife and Your Land, Cost Sharing and More – Eileen Vale, Resource Team Lead, US Department of Agriculture Natural Resources Conservation Service, Iowa Park.
  • Drought Relief Fund, Partial Drought Financial Loss Payment, and Low Interest Loans — Kathy Bailes, USDA Farm Service Agency, Archer, and Wichita Counties.
  • Understanding Rainfall Insurance: Pasture, Hay, and Crop Program Basics – Davey Jones, AgDefense Risk Management, Elgin, Oklahoma.
  • Using Financial Tools in Tough Times: Leveraging Farm Support Programs to Improve Your Farm — Pancho Abello, AgriLife Extension Economist, Vernon.
